초록
이 논문에서는 이규경의 저술 중 과학기술서로 분류되는 『오주서종박물고변』의 성격과 책이 집필되었던 시대적 배경을 고찰하여 『오주서종박물고변』의 사전적 전문저술이라는 특징을 확인해보려 한다. 이규경은 『오주서종박물고변』을 쓰면서 자기 학문의 핵심 방법으로 주장했던 박물의 의의를 잘 정립했다고 할 수 있다. 보통 이규경의 저술로 가장 잘 알려져 있는 책은 백과전서식 저술인 『오주연문장전산고』이다. 이 책은 다루는 영역이 매우 넓고, 경험적 지식을 넘어 자신의 상상과 주관적 견해가 덧붙여진 부분이 많아, 전문 지식서적이라고 보기는 어렵다. 이에 반해 『오주서종박물고변』에서 제공하는 정보는 객관적 측면에서 정확성과 전문성이 높고 당 시대에서 실제 생활과 관련한 실용서로서 가치가 높다는 특징이 있다. 이러한 부분들을 살펴보면 이규경의 박물관(博物觀)이 더욱 선명히 드러날 것이다.
The science writhing, 『O-ju Seojong Bakmul Gobyun』, is one of the books written by Lee Kyu-Kyung. The paper will identify that 『O-ju Seojong Bakmul Gobyun』 was a scholarly article by considering the historical background of the period and literary characters. His book shows that he had established the key point of his study. This means the way of Bakmul. Generally speaking, 『O-ju YeonMun jangJeon sanhgo』 is his best-known book and the book is like an encyclopedic. Most people have evaluated the book had not contained the specialized knowledge because of a variety of part of themes. Moreover, many of parts shown that author’s imagination at his own view. On the other hand, 『O-ju Seojong Bakmul Gobyun』 has a high value because it had offered objectively correct information with a higher degree of specialization and was a functional book related in real life at that time. Therefore, Lee Kyu-Kyung.’s point of view about wide knowledge would emerge more specifically, if you see the parts of the book.
